LCD Soundsystem — the band that helped define the anxious, cynical, yet ready to dance spirit of certain slice of the population during the troubled ’00s — revealed the release date and name of its first album since reuniting in late 2015. “American Dream,” which uses the same name of a new song the group has been performing during recent live dates, will arrive Friday, September 1.

“American Dreams” will be the group’s first studio album since 2010. That year’s “This Is Happening” marked the zenith of LCD Soundsystem’s first wave of popularity in many ways, though the James Murphy-led troupe has only grown in legend and esteem since first breaking up in February of 2011. Subsequently, the band released “The Long Goodbye: LCD Soundsystem Live at Madison Square Garden,” a compendium of their final live shows at the historic New York venue, in 2014.

Indeed, many looked to the bonhomie those official “last” shows — the same ones catalogued in the documentary, “Shut Up and Play the Hits — and cried foul when members of LCD Soundsystem announced they would be reforming in 2015. Though many cited the reunion as some sort of emotional betrayal, tickets to the band’s performances at various venues (Coachella, Brooklyn Steel, etc.) have become famously hard to get and their new songs, including a Christmas single, have garnered early praise.
On top of a name and a release date, the announcement revealed a preliminary track list for “American Dream”:
